    Great video very helpful but just one question you said you want the center of the post hole positioned at 1 1/2" in from the edge. Given how you showed the blocking does that not put the mounting screw going into a seam between the rim and the block or does that not matter?

    • @HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer

      You can set the bottom rails parallel to the ground and cut all bottoms of fence boards to match the angle. Plus you can add a lateral board for animals if needed.

    • @HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer
      @HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer 18 дней назад

      I did add in blocking, I noted this in the video, but to film it is very hard as it's a tight attic. Simply block between rafter cords to the dimension of your fan. Pretty straight forward 👍

    The answer is probably no, or you would have done it, but I’m wondering if running a screw into the wall through the baseboard to fill in the space. I’d think that the motion would pull out the depression in the wall and reduce the size of space.

    For a bullnose on 1" thick tread, with cork backing(nucore) , would you route/dado out a full 1-1/4" for the radius? I guess the PU glue will fill the slight gap at top edge where cork starts?wouldn't want a void to crack when stepped on.

    • @tribalwind
      @tribalwind 2 месяца назад

      Honestly, I'd prefer even making the lvp square nosed and fill at least the top quarter radius with glue on the existing pine bullnose.

    fyi, there's a product called Durastair that's now on the market (Lowes carries it) where the nose (square) is already made. Only challenge may come when you install it over the existing stair nose if it extends out to far, in which case you would have to trim/cut back the existing stair nose. I'm about to install it myself. 😃

    • @HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer
      @HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer 2 месяца назад

      Yes you can buy the same from certain flooring companies like Pur Parket. Then the nose has to be cut back, otherwise you project too far.

      Oh quick question, my stairs have a rounded bullnose edge. What would you advise ? Router the whole area of the bullnose to enable bending or make several passes and using the gaps to have a concertina effect so it still maintains some sturdiness but is less prone to stress breaks?
